Day and Night in the Paradise of the Pacific

The First ever Day and Night test match was played almost two and half years ago in the neighboring country, or rather we can say the neighboring continent; from then till now there were several tests played. But finally, it was the time for Newzeland to host one in Auckland from March 22 to March 26.

With the English team being away from home for almost more than five months: touring Australia for the Ashes, the ODI's, the tri-series for the T20I's and the ODI's against Kiwis- it was indeed a very tiring past few months for them.

With the buildup for the test in Auckland, the hosts were pretty much excited for it. Joe root's English team was looking formidable with the inclusion of the mighty all-rounder and a millionaire (IPL contract) Ben Stokes (aka stoksey).

Kane spins the coin and Root calls, as Kane elects to bowl first, few eyebrows were raised with that decision. Least did we know what was in the stores of kiwi's? The prominent bowling duo started the proceedings for them; with the prolific run-scorer Cook and the talented Stoneman at the crease; England looked unpenetrable with the pink ball.

How beautiful the night sky looks when there are no clouds with an umpty number of stars to witness? Each delivery bowled from Boult in his first and the only spell in that innings was so synonymous with that beauty; and as usual, Southee got his line and lengths spot on; the result: England being rolled out for a mere 58, thanks to Overton's 33. The same is not the case when English men came out to bowl, the old warhorse (James Anderson) did not get the similar purchase like Boult. While his partner Broad has made it to the Elite club of 400 test wickets.

With Kane piling up another ton, now becoming the leading centurion in tests, surpassing the legend Martin Crowe's seventeen tons. And also the young prodigy Nichols getting to his highest score in tests scoring 145, Kiwis declare at 427.

With rain making the news on Day 2 and Day 3. England was trailing by 369 as both the openers walk into bat on day 4. While Cook was dismissed cheaply, Stoneman and Root stitched up a good partnership until the everlasting energy of Wagner got better of Stoneman and Root was bagged up again by the astounding Boult.

With the onus now on Stokes and Bairstow to rescue them from a humiliating defeat, the latter got out playing a rash shot. Stokes and Woakes in the middle tried to bat out of their skins to rescue, only until they were shown their way back to the English night chamber by some serious short pitch stuff from Wagner.

The denouement was near, the leggie (Astle) picks up Andersons and draws the curtains for English men. A much unlike Kiwi celebration, with a lot of ecstasy and jumping around; Newzeland conquered the night sky of Auckland with the pink ball.

MOM: Trent Boult for his heroics with the ball, bagging 9 wickets and also achieving his career-best figures of 6 for 32.

En-route English Soil

The only country where he hasn't sparked up to his potential, the only nation where he likes to quench his thirst for runs, the only place where Indian fans would love to see him score big is England and our captain Kohli is all set to begin his county stint with Surrey.

With this news rolling out in the social media many of his fans are gearing up to witness their hero in the county colors. Surrey not only managed to bag the big brand Virat for a month they managed to get him for a nominal value.

While BCCI is skeptical about Surrey managing Virat's image, they agreed to keep the promotions at minimum and focus more on cricket.

Dhamaka in Delhi

Well well, if you have missed out tonight's encounter between Delhi and Hyderabad, then you have certainly missed out on some serious run feast. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Delhi has lost couple of early wickets as Sunrisers were again spot on with their line and lengths.

However, their misery wasn't amplified as Pant took up the responsibility and annihilated the Sunrisers bowlers to every nook and corner of the park. Very seldom you find a guy like Maxwell being veiled by his partner's innings; it was the case today when Pant has out shadowed every one until something unprecedented incident took place.

Scoring his maiden century, Pant has smashed all the bowlers of SRH; known for their bowling SRH has turned the tide and chased down 188 like a boss.

At the end of first innings, it certainly looked like an uphill task for the Sunrisers. But what we have witnessed was just scintillating. SRH batsmen were all over the DD bowlers and never let the required r…
