Homecoming of the Royals of Rajasthan

Ever heard of a team that always focused on the sub-continental flavors? Yes, it is the Rajasthan Royals. Just like its "Marwadi" thali, the franchise was known to produce local Indian talents and offer them to the domestic/International circuit.

Chronicles of RR:

RR was the only team to appoint a foreigner as a skipper in the inaugural IPL. To the surprise of everyone, they clinched the title and announced their arrival in style. Coming into the tournament as underdogs, another fascinating fact is that it was the least expensive franchise.

Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Swapnil Asnodkar, Ravindra Jadeja and many other talents are the groomed products of Shane Warne during the inception of IPL.

RR then became a Hub of talents when our very own Rahul Dravid was roped into the squad in 2011. Sanju Samson, Ajinkya Rahane, Dishant Yagnik, Karun Nair are some of the notable players who were benefited by his captaincy/mentorship; needless to say the value they bring to their respective squads now.

From trusting and developing the young talent, they also roped in venerable Pravin Tambe at the age of 41 in 2013; showing the importance the franchise bestows upon the local talent. And surely he was an impactful player as RR managed to reach the playoffs again only in 2013 after winning the championship back in 2008.

RR is all set to make a comeback following the ban in 2015 after the Lodha Panel inquiry; the "pink city" is all set to welcome them. The franchise made sure to retain their core for this edition in the form of Rahane, Samson, Kulkarni, Stokes, and Unadkat. Unlike previous RR management, this time they went all guns blazing at the auction. Grabbing the most expensive buys for this season, RR displayed their ferocity to build an aggressive young team with the likes of some superstars.

Team composition - IPL 2018

While it is expected that Rahane and Tripathi will do the opening honors for the team, the addition of D'arcy Short strengthens their arsenal. Short with his hitting abilities can trouble the opponents at the early stages of the match itself. The middle order looks stable with the presence of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Ben Stokes. The lower middle order with the presence of Karnataka all-rounders Stuart Binny and Krishnappa Gowtham is a blessing in disguise to the team as they can be a threat with their medium pace and spin respectively.

Jaydev Unadkat is expected to lead the pace department with the likes of Dhawal Kulkarni and Jofra Archer.

X-factor:

D'arcy Short and Jofra Archer, the brothers of destruction for Hobart Hurricanes are the primary reason for the qualification of their team to the finals of BBL. Given their chance in the playing XI, RR can come out all guns blazing.
Anureet Singh, who wasn't retained by KXIP can also be an X-factor for the squad with his early scalps in the powerplay.
Shane Warne is back with RR as their mentor.
Inclusion of Heinrich Klaasen in the squad after the elimination of Smith from IPL 2018

The first encounter is against SRH on April 9 at Hyderabad.

Will RR make a firing comeback or will they succumb in the Hyderabadi fortress? Only time will tell.

Until then tell us your views about RR.

Dhamaka in Delhi

Well well, if you have missed out tonight's encounter between Delhi and Hyderabad, then you have certainly missed out on some serious run feast. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Delhi has lost couple of early wickets as Sunrisers were again spot on with their line and lengths.

However, their misery wasn't amplified as Pant took up the responsibility and annihilated the Sunrisers bowlers to every nook and corner of the park. Very seldom you find a guy like Maxwell being veiled by his partner's innings; it was the case today when Pant has out shadowed every one until something unprecedented incident took place.

Scoring his maiden century, Pant has smashed all the bowlers of SRH; known for their bowling SRH has turned the tide and chased down 188 like a boss.

At the end of first innings, it certainly looked like an uphill task for the Sunrisers. But what we have witnessed was just scintillating. SRH batsmen were all over the DD bowlers and never let the required r…
