Diegesis of a Boy from Baroda

The little boy from Baroda has now turned out to be a commentator in the Star Sports studio. Who is he? Did he play for team India?

Back in 2003, he made his debut at Adelaide oval for team India, considered to be Virat's favorite for quite some time now, this all-rounder has had an impact on all the formats of the game for team India.

His inclusion proved to be a boon when he came out all guns blazing against Pakistani top order claiming a hat-trick in the first over of the test match in early 2006. He was then considered to be the reincarnation of Kapil Dev, the greatest all-rounder of all time.

He was a trustworthy all-rounder who can swing the ball pretty well, his bowling spells alongside with RP Singh were a treat to watch in those days.

People looked at him as a fiery bowler who can rattle the batsmen with his pace and swing and also seam, the delivery which injured Mark Vermeulen, the Zimbabwe batsman is still remembered by most of the cricket lovers.

He has represented India in 29 tests and he is one among the few to score 1000 runs and pick 100 wickets. His career highlights in tests include his only century against Pakistan at Bengaluru and not to forget his performance when he was awarded the MOM for his match-winning knock and spell against Australia at Perth in 2008.

When things were going well with the ball, the then Indian controversial coach Greg Chappell wanted to try him as an opener. While many have questioned this unprecedented move, he responded well with both the bat and the ball. His knocks against Australia and many other countries during home tours provided a depth to the Indian batting line up. It is to be noted that his role as an opener never affected the quality of his bowling.

He had a fabulous outing in the ICC WT20 championship in 2007, he played a vital role by chirping up with wickets at regular intervals in the final against Pakistan. This tournament had made him a matured player than ever before as he played the role of a senior in the young T20 squad that clinched the maiden T20 championship title for India.

His journey in the IPL had a lot of twists and turns as he represented nearly 5 franchises. He had a good outing for the first five seasons when he represented KXIP and DD. He also proved his mettle at the SRH camp during its incubation period. He hadn't played a single match for CSK as he ended up warming up the bench the whole season.

Though he was given a couple of chances in RPSG in 2016, his journey lasted only for four matches, and he went unsold in 2017 auction. His fortunes turned around when he was bought by his home team Gujarat Lions in the middle of the season. His silver lining lasted only for a game and that match saw GL losing in a super over. After being sacked by his own domestic team, he was inducted into the J&K camp for the next three years to play a dual role as a player and as well as a mentor. Let's hope and pray that his stint with J&K will be fruitful.

If you haven't figured out this player yet, he is our very own Irfan the swing Pathan.

Dhamaka in Delhi

Well well, if you have missed out tonight's encounter between Delhi and Hyderabad, then you have certainly missed out on some serious run feast. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Delhi has lost couple of early wickets as Sunrisers were again spot on with their line and lengths.

However, their misery wasn't amplified as Pant took up the responsibility and annihilated the Sunrisers bowlers to every nook and corner of the park. Very seldom you find a guy like Maxwell being veiled by his partner's innings; it was the case today when Pant has out shadowed every one until something unprecedented incident took place.

Scoring his maiden century, Pant has smashed all the bowlers of SRH; known for their bowling SRH has turned the tide and chased down 188 like a boss.

At the end of first innings, it certainly looked like an uphill task for the Sunrisers. But what we have witnessed was just scintillating. SRH batsmen were all over the DD bowlers and never let the required r…
