The new leader of the Daredevils

The plight of Delhi Daredevils is unexplainable, winning a sole encounter in half a dozen encounters, Delhi Daredevils hasn't lived up to the expectations this season, and the latest statement of Gambhir stepping down as a captain adds on to their misery.

Roping in the hard hitters like Maxwell, Roy, Munro, and with some good Indian talent like Pant, Iyer, Shaw and the experienced captain Gambhir, Delhi was all packed for the entertainment this season.

But their story this season has been down the hill other than one encounter where they have chased down 195 against another misty side of the season.

With the latest statement from Gambhir, the onus has now shifted to the youngster Shreyas Iyer to lead Delhi to what is an arduous challenge. Requiring 6 wins in their next 8 encounters, DD will try to turn their fortunes under the Iyer's leadership.

Shreyas rose to the prominence when he was sent to the Trent Bridge cricket team in England by scoring 297 runs in just 3 innings and also knocked the Indian selector doors after the IPL 2015 where he grabbed the emerging player award.

With being a key player in the India A side, the Mumbaikar is now granted with an eminent responsibility of leading an experienced an young side.

Let us see if Delhi can change their fortunes under Iyer's leadership or will they further go down the sink this season.

Substantial Delhi Daredevils

The team which has seen a lot of ups and downs in terms of their core stability is Delhi Daredevils. With the likes of Sehwag, Gambhir, Nehra, and Mishra, Delhi started off their campaign in 2008 as one of the favorites to win the championship. However, they just fell short of a couple of steps to clinch the title.

To further strengthen the things next year, Delhi signs in Dirk Nannes the quicky from Australia. Under the leadership of Gambhir DD topped the table and yet again dropped short of their maiden championship title.

From 2010 until 2017, Delhi has faced a lot of criticism for not performing up to their standards. Reaching playoffs only once in a span of 8 years is a record that needs to be flushed down the gutter. 2012, was one of their successful seasons among the last eight, thanks to the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Mahela Jayawardena, and Ross Taylor.

With Delhi having a capricious core, it was all up to the management to establish a steady and a solid core; and they have …
